 “Two Wonderful Days with Auriol”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

My husband and I were visiting Cape Town from the U.S.A. and Auriol was recommended to us, by someone else who was recommended to us. We took the leap of faith that we would have a good experience and that the private tour price would be worth it. Day One was the Cape Point Tour, and Auriol was amazingly knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible. We could “stop”, “go”, or “linger” all along the way, all the time learning about the details of what we were seeing, including her and her family’s experiences. Unfortunately, we hit a major traffic jam at the end, that could have possibly been avoided. Day Two was a wonderful day of brandy distillery and vineyard tours. Since we had no idea which places to visit, we left the itinerary up to Auriol, and it was spectacular full day– beautiful scenery, interesting distillery tour, delicious wines and a lovely lunch. The next evening Auriol picked us and our bags up at our inn and we raced to catch the sunset at Signal Hill, but due to a bit of over scheduling didn’t quite make it– but almost! She then dropped us off at the airport, and we hugged our new friend goodbye.

Breakfast was excellent and included a 3 course healthy meal with different meals offered on each day. She offered car transfers to various places at affordable rates. We also went on a winelands tour with her. She ensured we visited the best winefarms and explained the history and stories behind the winefarms impresively. Even though the weather on that day was not optimal, we greatly enjoyed the winelands tour. We highly recommend Auriols guesthouse!

“Fabulous Day with Auriol!!!!”

Auriol is a delightful woman with a genuine interest in fulfilling your every whim. She will go to great lengths to accomplish this. I am one who does a lot of research before I travel and when letting her know some of the things I wanted to see, I was pleasantly surprised that they had all been included in a well planned out and organized tour. She even surprised me by arranging drinks and a sunset viewing from the Twelve Apostles Hotel ( a wish I had casually mentioned some time before and which was not part of the tour agenda ). The best thing about the day was that it was FUN!
You cannot go wrong by choosing AuriolsTours. We had a fabulous day in a fabulous city!!!!!!!!

“Pleasantly surprised with relaxed flexibility and enjoyment”
Reviewed April 15, 2012

First, I need to point out that I normally do not go for organised tours. However, two factors (1- the warning for personal safety, being a solo female traveller and 2- the need to be efficient with my time as I had a very short vacation time: one week) made it that I opted for Auriol Tours. Was I ever pleasantly surprised with what I got! Auriol provided me with very personalised and relaxed tours of the Peninsula and of the delicious & luscious wine lands.

If her open mind, generosity, and honest and adorable laugh does not win your deep appreciation, her flexibility and in-depth knowledge regarding the sites you are seeing with her will do the job! She generously spoke about general and more personal stories related to the Apartheid, which is undeniably a key element in exploring and understanding the culture and history of this beautiful region of South Africa. All through our time visiting together, it was obvious to me that Auriol is passionate about her country and about the desire to share it’s beauty with the rest of the world.

I highly recommend Auriol as a tour guide, regardless if you are a solo traveller, a couple or a group; I know she will be able to provide you with a high satisfactory experience. She is very keen on making sure that we get what we want out of our day, and she does so by openly communicating throughout the day.

“Great tour guide, personal service.”

Hired Auriol to show us around the Cape of Good Hope Peninsula. Auriol was fantastic. Full of knowledge, and a great tour guide. She also was able to make the tour very personal, by finding a terrific little beach spot on the Indian Ocean for us to stop and put our feet in the water. From the first email contact with Auriol, I was very impressed with her professionalism, which continued throughout the tour. Highly recommended.

My husband and I really enjoyed our tour of the Franschoek Winelands with our tour guide Auriol. She was running a bit late picking us up and was very considerate to phone to let us know she was stuck in traffic. We found her to be very flexible in adjusting the plans for the day to meet our needs. Auriol was very warm, friendly and gracious person which put us at ease to enjoy our surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed the Butterfly World excursion. It was so relaxing watching the butterflies and the children observing the animals inside the greenhouse. What a FUN day! Regards,

My family and I went on the Cape Peninsula tour with Auriol. We had a great day. She had tons of knowledge about everything we were seeing. Since it was a private tour, we were able to pick and choose where and when we stopped. MUCH better than being herded with the tour bus crowd! The only drawback was the tour was given in her BMW sedan. It was slightly cramped for a family of four but it did not detract from the overall tour. We would definitely use Auriol again and recommend her highly to anyone looking for a private tour.

Hi Somia/Michelle,
I cant thank you enough for the tour of Capetown. I had a great time…only wish i had a 34 hour day that friday.
Auriol exceeded my expectations.I had a very personalised tour from a lady who was not taking me around because it was part of her job, but because she loves what she does.
I loved every minute of the experience and would recommend her services to any BAT employee coming down South.

I have learnt a lot about Capetown…and can now share a thing or two with fellow Kenyans on tales and myths about devil’s peak and the twelve apostles

Regards,
Laban

“Wonderful Company, Fabulous Experience”
Reviewed June 24, 2010

My wife and I had just returned from a wonderful week’s stay at Cape Town, South Africa. This was our first trip to South Africa and we wanted to maximise our short visit – especially having heard how beautiful Cape Town was. We began a search on the internet for a reliable , safe and friendly tour agent. Through tripadvisor, we came across Auriol’s Tours and decided to contact them to organise a tour for us.

From the very first contact via email, my wife and I felt very comfortable with the politeness and friendliness that came across the simple email. When we provided the information of the days we would like to tour, Auriol very promptly provided us an interesting itinery and budget for our consideration.

We spent a total of 3 days touring with Auriol Tours and it was money well spent. The amount of information and knowledge shared by Auriol and Janet during our tours was brought across very interestingly and most importantly in a personal and friendly manner. It was as though we had a close family friend bringing us around their beautiful home town rather than a tour guide conducting a tour. Kudos to Auriol and Janet – we loved it!!

In the short 3 days there, we had the opportunity to experience and learn about the fascinating history, colorful stories and background of Cape Town – through the eyes of a “Capetonian”.

We will be planning a trip back again and this time we will bring our daughter along who we trust will thoroughly enjoy the experience as well.

Thanks Auriol Tours and God’s Blessings on you and your wonderful Family.

“Auriol made the trip for us.”
Reviewed May 27, 2010

My wife and I booked a two week safari in Kenya, then decided if we were going that far, we would also like to see Cape Town, so we arranged to go there for 4 days. We found Auriol on the web, then confirmed her reliability with a Cape Town travel agent we had been referred to. We loved out time in Cape Town, and it was Auriol who made the trip for us.

Just imagine sitting in small town Canada, planning a trip to a strange city far away that is rumoured to be dangerous, yet beautiful. You are a bit apprehensive and your friends and family advise you not to go. Then it turns out that one of your best friends is there and is willing to take 4 days off work to show you whatever you want to see, day and night. That was us, and the best friend is Auriol. We could not have been treated better if she was a family member or a best friend. And we always felt safe with her everywhere we went.

We can’t say enough about how well we were treated. We have been talking about South Africa, Cape Town and Auriol since we left there. Auriol showed us the sights of the area, talked about the history, culture, and politics of South Africa, and we conversed about growing up in our respective countries and the experiences we had. We came to know South Africa through her optimistic, hopeful eyes, a refreshing contrast to the gloom we are used to hearing.

If we return to Cape Town (and we hope we can, some day), we would not even think about contacting any other form of tour. It was Auriol who made it such a great 4 days in Cape Town, and we would love to renew our friendship with her. We have already recommended her to all our friends, including travel agent friends.

To anyone planning a visit to Cape Town, I very strongly recommend Auriol who will give you very safe, personalized and flexible service, and afterward you will be talking about your trip and your guide for months.

I used Auriols Tours because the company was run by the mother and daughter. I was a single female traveler in South Africa and worried about security. It was a right choice. Auriol, the mother, guide and driver, was fun to talk with and at the end of the 4-day tour, she became like a sister to me. She guided me around in her BMW, which was comfortable. She was very flexible. By my request, she took me to the Stellenbosch University, the site not belonging to the Vineyard tour. We switched the Table Mountain tour from the initially planned 1st day to the 3rd when the weather was better. As Auriol predicted, we had a wonderful view from the top of the mountain. You will have a great holiday with this tour company.

This was my first visit to South Africa and naturally I wanted to make the most out of it. A recommendation brought me to Auriols website. A small company led by mother and daughter. The choice you have for different tours is amazing! Whether you want to learn about the culture, history, wildlife, visit amazing landscapes or do some really adventurous things (like shark diving…). I settled for theTownship and Robben Island Tour and would never have been able to see and understand so much on my own. Not only was Auriol phantastic as a tour guide, competent and looking after us so well, but I felt so welcome, nearly like a part of the family! In fact, I was so happy with it, I decided to do the wine tour as well. And all expectations fullfilled again! I’ll definitely come back as soon as budget allows….

Beautiful weather, people, landscapes, animals, attractions. My fiance and I definitely had the time of our lives. After all we went on our honey-moon and couldn’t possibly have picked a better location for it or a better tour guide. We went to see Cape Town, the Kruger National Parc, the Table Mountain and other fantastic places. The world can definitely look forward to the next World Cup because it is hosted by such a great country. We will definitely come back to the place where we had so many fantastic moments.
Last but not least let me also thank to Auriol, who was such a great tour leader. Thank you for showing us all those great places and for making this trip so special to us.
